After about 18 hours of travel, I landed at Denpasar Bali airport. The arrival was delayed due to waiting for luggage and passport control, and after about 2 hours, I was greeted by the taxi driver I had fortunately already arranged and taken to the hostel.
Unfortunately, the hostel was not at all like I had imagined from my previous trips. I was led to a small, dirty room with no privacy or even a way to close the room. However, the people were all very nice and welcoming. After 10 hours of sleep, the situation didn't seem so bad, and I set out to explore the town and the beach a bit. In the evening, Indonesian food was cooked in the hostel and we could help ourselves and enjoy each other's company.
The next day, my colleague Umar arrived and we moved to a different part of town, to a cozy guesthouse. Since he already knew Bali, he was able to show me around a bit on a scooter and introduce me to Canggu.
In the following days, he started his yoga course and I had the opportunity to explore the island on my own. So I went to the famous Gate of Heaven, the water palace, a famous waterfall, learned about the production of coffee and got to taste it as well. The beautiful rice fields that dominate the landscape here didn't go unnoticed either.
On a free afternoon, Umar and I also traveled to the southernmost part of the island and visited the Uluwatu Temple. The view was breathtaking. Of course, the sacred monkeys that are found here could not be missed and amused us with their playful nature.
Enjoy the photos and look forward to the second part with the Gili Islands and the yoga hotspot Ubud. ;)
