We used yesterday exclusively for the waterfalls around Dalat. First, we took our scooter south to the Prenn Waterfall, which is still close to the city. The waterfall was beautiful, but we were a little disappointed with the area surrounding it. It has been heavily adapted to tourism, which is attracted by this waterfall. Where nature should be, there are now snack stands, souvenir and photographer shops, and one travel group after another streaming into the park. There was even the opportunity to ride elephants, ostriches, or bulls... However, if you made a little detour up the mountain away from the main area, you could still admire two quiet and beautiful temples.
Since it was already early afternoon and our last waterfall closed at 5 pm, we had to hurry a bit to cover the three-quarter hour drive. These scooter rides were still fun because you had a fantastic view of the varied nature of the Dalat area, with beautiful mountains, lakes, and vast landscapes.
The Elephant Waterfalls were a real adventure at the end. The descent was only secured by a railing, which provided limited grip on the wet and very slippery stone, and it could go quite deep into the water or onto other rocks. So you had to kneel or sit down frequently, and since the ground and shoes were well covered in mud, our pants were ready for laundry.
Tomorrow we will continue to Hoi An in the afternoon with an overnight bus, which should take about 14 hours. This will definitely be a lot of fun...
