Hi folks,
Today was the second big island tour on the agenda. This time I explored the northeastern part of Madeira. The first stop was in Camacha, where the local basket weaving industry is located. It's something you can see, but you don't have to!*g*
Afterwards, we went to 'Pico Arieiro' - the second highest mountain in Madeira with an altitude of 1810 meters. It was definitely a highlight of my vacation! I felt like the world was at my feet! :) Then we visited a trout farm in Ribeiro Frio - not bad either.^^
The next stop on the itinerary was the village of Santana. It is known for its small houses with pointed thatched roofs. I also got two of these crazy 'pineapple bananas' at the market square. According to Google, these fruits are called 'Delicious Window Leaf' in Germany! WHAT? Well, I'll try them later and I'll bring one of these fruits back to Germany, so if anyone wants to try it, they're welcome!
Finally, we visited the easternmost point of Madeira to conclude the tour. The photos were taken at the Ponta do Rosto viewpoint. Very impressive!
P.S.: The obligatory lizard photos are not to be missed today either! :D
Now I'm going to pack my backpack, because I'm already going back to Germany tomorrow morning. :(
Best regards, your Kevin.
