What fine things did we do on our half day in Phetchaburi (or Petburi for locals)?
First, a little walk through the shopping street with everything your heart desires. For one, it's a cold chocolate, for the other, a Thai tea. At the end of this little walk was the Buddhist temple Tripitaka Hall. Unfortunately, we couldn't visit the temple ourselves as it was closed. But even from outside, you could admire the decorations and the wooden building.
Next, we looked for the bus station. That was a bit of a treasure hunt, as very few people in Phetchaburi speak English and you have to communicate a lot with hand gestures and Google Translate. The nice lady at the ticket counter maybe didn't want to understand us. But it didn't matter, in the end, we had two tickets for the afternoon bus to Bangkok.
For us, we continued to the historical park Phra Nakhon Khiri, taking the Cable Car up. The complex was built around 1860 under King Rama IV and consists of three building complexes. I think it's worth a visit, offering a good view and a lot of history in one place. However, I wouldn't recommend visiting during lunchtime next time, as it can be quite warm.
As we started to feel a little hungry, we had to go eat delicious soup, at a restaurant Egg had picked out beforehand - https://youtu.be/_ta_-ouaQ40?feature=shared. For one thing - we were the attraction in the shop. I've rarely been so stared at in amazement. On the other hand - it was extremely tasty. And we realized that we also need to cook broth at home.
On the way back, we wanted to have an ice cream, but the shop was closed. So, a quick shower and off to the bus station. And - we actually got an earlier bus. Somehow, it worked out with the ticket. Who knows?
Arriving in Bangkok, we had a very talkative taxi driver to the hotel. At least he knew some German car brands and that German cars are among the best.
After a quick shower (yes, we shower a lot here, but it's necessary because it's warm and stuffy), we went to drop off laundry, eat Mango Sticky Rice, and mainly find a camera repair shop for the camera that fell in the sand. The first shop at the (felt) other end of Bangkok couldn't help us and referred us to one of the big malls (MBK). So, off we went there. We visited two shops there that also couldn't help us. And finally, Egg had their first Pad Thai. And a Roti.
After a day of walking in warm and humid weather, it was just a long final shower and back to the hotel and into bed.
