Day 36 - Goodbye!

Whakaputaina: 09.12.2017

As I was leaving Casa de los Sueños, Brayan, my little friend who loves to paint pictures, surprised me and hugged me tightly with his bike. I wanted to wish him a nice weekend, but I wasn't quite sure whether to use 'bien' or 'buen' in the phrase, so I asked him, 'How do you say it?' Brayan replied, 'Adios!'

And off he went. That was a lesson in avoiding uncertain expressions. We don't really need them, there are other solutions. Thank you, Brayan!

The event yesterday was as expected, ear-shattering. There were the inevitable mega-huge speakers, a stage with a band and folklore dance groups. But first, a priest in a long, black cassock stood on the stage. Oh, what am I saying, he performed! He spoke about Maria and the joy her conception brings us. He asked questions and the audience responded in chorus. I don't mean to make it sound ridiculous. I find it fascinating when people believe so unconditionally. And when the music is not depressingly serious and solemn, but comes across like pop music. The three of us foreign girls didn't experience the final climax, we were simply too exhausted. Maria should be safely back in her place in the church now, but the fireworks and firecrackers have already started again. Goodbye, night's rest!

Temperature 30 degrees, partly cloudy, little wind.
