46. Stage 'Issyk Kul'

Whakaputaina: 11.08.2024

After breakfast, Jeroen drove to Song Kul, and I headed towards Issyk Kul. The road was good, allowing me to make good progress. I made a stop in Naryn because I needed cash, something to eat, and to refuel. Afterwards, the journey continued towards the lake. The road was excellent, enabling me to focus more on the beautiful landscape. Upon arriving at the lake, unfortunately, the weather began to worsen. In the middle of a road construction site, a thunderstorm broke out. Stopping was unfortunately not an option. The road was flooded in no time and turned into a muddy mess. Only when I was already wet could I put on my rain gear. Luckily, it wasn't too cold. After some failed attempts, I eventually found a nice place to stay in a guesthouse. There, I met a family from Germany and an American professor who teaches at a university in China. We had a nice conversation during dinner.
