Our domicile for the next two years

Whakaputaina: 27.01.2018

The houses in this area were built in a former park.

It's very beautiful here. We have many trees and plants around us.

Not far away there is a shopping center and a "Walmart". Here you can get everything you need to live.

Around the area there are small Chinese restaurants where you can eat very well. We have tried that several times already.

The public transportation is within walking distance.

At first I took a taxi (between 10 and 20 yuan - about 1.30 to 2.60 euros) because I didn't know my way around well enough. Now I take the bus (1 yuan) or the BRT, which are buses that have their own lane above the road. The advantage here is that you don't get stuck in traffic, which can be very annoying.

The park area has 5 entrances and exits. Our way to the house leads over a rock staircase, which actually reminds me a bit of 'The Flintstones'. It looks a bit like in the jungle.

I recently learned that there are cobras here.

They appear more frequently when it's the season of the frogs (which we currently have).

I really hope I don't have to encounter this creature here.

After consultation with the owner, we were able to move in the following weekend. Before that, the apartment was cleaned again, the windows were cleaned and it was agreed when minor repairs would be carried out.

So we check out of the hotel on Sunday, August 28, 2016, and move into our new apartment.

It feels good to finally have our own apartment and not have to live in a hotel anymore.

In the meantime, we had to take care of some paperwork. That always takes a while here and is very cumbersome. A temporary work permit (valid for 3 months) for my husband and a temporary residence permit for both of us (valid for 3 months), which then has to be changed to a residence permit for one year each. Here, all applications are reviewed and after approval, reviewed and approved again :o)

We moved into our new apartment on August 28, 2016. Today is September 8, 2016, and we have already been living here for 12 days. To make it a bit more comfortable, we bought a plant. Duvets, pillows, covers, some dishes, etc. were added as well. Now we are waiting for the container from Germany, which has already been announced for this weekend.
