Now we have already left St. Lucia again, but the last two days were also all about animals.
On Sunday, after our first swim in the Indian Ocean, we went on a boat tour towards Lake St. Lucia. The goal was to see the hippos and Nile crocodiles living here in the wild. Unfortunately, apart from a few hippo heads sticking out of the water and two crocodiles quickly disappearing when they saw our boat approaching, there wasn't much to experience.
Monday started like Sunday with a swim in the ocean. Both days, the experience was unique, especially for the boys, because of the high waves breaking just 40 meters from the beach. After a short lunch break, we headed towards the Crocodile Center and Wetland Park (now called iSimangaliso). The visit to the Crocodile Center was disappointing. The enclosures of the animals were clean, but everything looked old and used. The visit to the Wetland Park, which, like the Kruger National Park, is a nature reserve, compensated us with a sight of 3 rhinos in the wild. Now the boys have seen the Big Five too. The two rhino ladies that can be seen in the pictures were followed by a bull with some distance. He also showed himself, as one of the ladies made clear to him in the meantime. Unfortunately, we were not fast enough to capture this short but clearly visible scene in which the lady approached the bull.
