25.03 and 26.03, Goodbye Sri Lanka and Hello Germany (Part 2)

Whakaputaina: 10.04.2020

After 8 hours in London, which luckily went by relatively quickly, it was finally time to head home at 3 PM. It feels unreal that I am actually going home. The flight was super fast, and since there wasn't a single cloud in the sky and the sun was shining, the view was amazing!

I had actually prepared myself for strict controls at the airport in Hamburg due to the Corona virus, and it was possible that I might even have to quarantine. Surprisingly, there were no controls at all. No thermal camera to measure body temperature, no inquiries about possible symptoms, and no health declaration form to fill out. Overall, the airport also seemed deserted. At the moment, it's not surprising, as only 25 planes are scheduled to land in Hamburg in the next 2 days.

Once I had my luggage again, I went outside and was finally able to hug my dad. Some tears were shed! The complete tension and stress of the past two weeks disappeared, and I was so happy to finally arrive safely. It was a surreal feeling to be back home, sitting in our kitchen and having dinner with mom, dad, and Bias. To celebrate the day, we had potatoes, croquettes, vegetables, and Cordon Bleu with cream sauce.
It was delicious and finally potatoes again :D

I really missed them, just like dairy products.

It was also really nice to finally snuggle up in my own bed, which seemed really big to me, because the beds in the hostels were relatively small. And despite wearing pajamas, a heating pad, and a thick blanket, I was cold. So I'll have to get used to the temperatures here again :D
But I was able to fall asleep without any problems. It's really nice to be able to snuggle up again without sweating.

Now I'm really curious how quickly I will settle in again and get used to everything.
