Once again we set off from our apartment in O Milladoiro in light rain. Everyone is excited, the children are happy that they only have 8 km to go, we are looking forward to the cathedral and the city.
The route is unexpectedly beautiful, cute suburbs, forest paths and constant uphill walking, which is not so easy for us today with all our luggage. At around 1 p.m. we reach the impressive cathedral through bustling alleys, with the bagpiper in the background. A few pilgrims in ponchos, because the rain is following us today too. After a short pause in the forecourt and the obligatory photo, we visit the impressive cathedral with the St. James shrine under the altar and we touch the statue of St. James together with Marlo.
We head to the pilgrim office, get the Compostela and go out to eat. In the late afternoon we reach our beautiful penthouse apartment, freshen up and set off to explore the old town.
The next day begins with a long breakfast without packing or paying attention to the weather. Then we go to the pilgrim mass at midday, where the mass was held in Spanish and partly in French, but was still quite easy to understand. A lot of it was about the pilgrimage and the pilgrims themselves. This was a good end to our pilgrimage.
Goodbye Santiago de Compostela!
