Let's go!

Whakaputaina: 23.07.2017

Moving on July 13th and 14th, 2017

At eight o'clock sharp the chaos begins, and we are caught in the whirlwind that will consume us for the next few weeks. Three men have traveled from Berlin to quickly empty the apartment. We already know that any organizational thoughts we had beforehand were futile. There is no time for any delicacies here.

Eventually, the apartment is empty and handed over, and we head to the train station and take one last look at the Dom mountain. For the first time, we have only a one-way ticket.

We arrive at our new apartment after midnight. I quietly hope that the moving truck will catch fire on the way, without any injuries, of course. We actually have everything here: a functioning kitchen, a bed, and a usable bathroom. But the apartment will never be as usable as it is now in the next seven days.

Our fears become reality the next day. The packers descend on us like a hurricane, and within minutes the apartment is filled with furniture. Every thirty seconds, we are asked where this or that should go. In 50% of the cases, we make the wrong decision with terrible consequences.

As a handyman, I am rendered useless because my toolbox has gone missing. It's only days later that I find the cordless drill and other tools. Fortunately, we have Kurt. He is our go-to handyman for difficult cases, which essentially means for everything. He will have plenty of work.

Eventually, the storm subsides and we each carve out half a square meter of space on the sofa. The TV is already up and running....
