Goodbye Bangkok, welcome Phuket!
Today we took a GRAB taxi to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (there are 2 airports in Bangkok!) at 7:30 am.
The departure wasn't until 11:30 a.m., but a little time buffer couldn't hurt. Something unforeseen can always happen (see day 3; directions to the meeting point) 😉
The morning traffic heading out of town to the airport was moderate, in contrast to the other direction, where there was what felt like a 30 km long traffic jam. So we were at the terminal before 8:00 a.m. and just had to drop off our luggage there. We had already checked in online the evening before.
The flight to Phuket lasted about 90 minutes and literally flew by and the ordering and collection via GRAB also went smoothly.
The nice GRAB employee (I hope that's gender correct) took us in 40 minutes to our accommodation, the Bangtao Puri Aparments near Surin, where our landlords, Jörg and Angie, who we had met on our vacation last year, welcomed us .
The couple's new apartment was simply a dream. 160 m² of pure luxury (see pictures). You don't treat yourself to anything else.
I already knew the area from my exploration trips the previous year, so after we rented a scooter from a car rental company in the neighborhood, it wasn't difficult to drive to the nearest supermarket to refill the empty refrigerator.
Afterwards, of course, we had to try out a small, typical Thai restaurant in the neighborhood, where we had our dinner.
And tomorrow we're going to the beach for the first time...
