Due to the weather conditions, we decided this morning to continue our journey towards Croatia.
The passage through Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina is surprisingly smooth. Although you can't drive fast, there isn't much traffic on the roads. The border crossings inland are hardly used, and we can pass quickly. The scenery along the route is very beautiful, characterized by lush green and mountains.
Our destination in Croatia is the Prapratno Bay, about an hour south of Dubrovnik. We would have liked to include a beach day there. Unfortunately, a strong wind is blowing, which limits our desire to swim.
We continue to Ston, a medieval town on the Pelješac Peninsula. Here, we are looking forward to exploring the second-longest preserved defensive wall in the world (after the Great Wall of China). We hike along the 5.5 km long wall from Ston to Mali Ston. Although it's quite steep in parts, the unique views reward us richly. What a blessing that there were no good swimming conditions!
After that, we drive a bit further north because the weather is supposed to be better there than in the south. Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for tonight. I'm curious to see how the night will turn out!
