Now we only have one last chance to kite on the coast - Bahia Inglesa.
The next day we rush directly there, as the place is not only known for its wind but also as a nice Chilean vacation spot according to Lonely Planet. Bahia Inglesa is really nice. It's a bit more touristy than the previous places, but thanks to the low season it's almost deserted. There are cafes, internet access, and restaurants here.
Unfortunately, it's quite cloudy, which hinders the thermal wind. The second day is a bit sunnier and we hope for sufficient wind in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we have to end our kite session after half an hour here as well, because the wind becomes too weak. We are frustrated. All our attempts in the past days to catch wind on the coast and get on the water have failed.
There are several kilometers ahead of us along the Atacama Desert, but no more prospects of wind. We consider driving all the kilometers back to Puclaro to kite again or alternatively driving 900 km towards the north to have a chance to surf waves. After a round of SchnikSchnakSchnuk, we decide on the north.
In our streak of bad luck, we of course have a flat tire the next day before departure and even misplace our car key while changing the tire - it's one of those days.
So we finally leave way too late in the afternoon and head towards Iquique.
P.S. Bahia Inglesa was really nice, but unfortunately we forgot to take pictures. That's why the visuals in this post are very scarce.
