Koh Lanta / Day 48-55

Tihchhuah a ni: 19.10.2019

Hey guys, it's already been a week since my last update. I've been really busy with work and had little time to write. My day off on Monday was very relaxing. I mainly stayed by the pool or at the beach and just chilled. It was nice to have such a relaxed day.

In the evening, I sat on the beach and watched the sunset with a glass of wine, when a cat came up to me and lay down next to me. She didn't leave my side and even followed me to my room. I don't think you're allowed to bring cats into the room, but I couldn't resist. She was so cute and slept with me in bed all night.

Yesterday, 5 dogs and 3 cats left us, including my beloved Jellyfish and her sister Sardine. When I saw them in the box, I almost started crying. I'm happy for them that they found a nice home where they can stay forever, but I miss them.

After my shift yesterday, I did a cooking class at Time for Lime with 3 other colleagues. The cooking school was founded specifically for Lanta Animal Welfare and all the proceeds go to the shelter. As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to take the cooking class for free and of course I took advantage of that. It was a really great cooking class. Our teacher was amazing and explained everything so well. We learned how to make our own curry paste, make a Thai salad, make green and red curry, and fried rice. The food was really delicious. I highly recommend it.
This morning, I had a beautiful experience: I went horseback riding on the beach!!!! It's been at least 7 or 8 years since the last time I rode a horse, so I really wanted to take the opportunity to go horseback riding on the beach. Since it's currently not officially high season in Thailand, no one else had signed up and I was the only one with the instructor on the beach. It was so amazing to gallop along there and enjoy the horse, the sea, and the beach. It was almost like a dream.
Now I only have 3 days left here and then I'm off to Laos on Tuesday. I'll be spending the first 5 nights at a hotel before starting my next project here on Sunday. I'm really excited to see how the project will go.
Until then.
Your Alex
