Koh Lanta / Day 30-31

Tihchhuah a ni: 26.09.2019

Hello everyone, yesterday was my first day of work here at Lanta Animal Welfare. I am still a bit overwhelmed by all the impressions here and I probably need some time to process everything.

The biggest change here is probably the bathroom. Unfortunately, I didn't really inform myself about it and was therefore a bit shocked to find out that there is no toilet paper or flush tank here. Here, you flush the toilet with a separate tap and a bucket by hand. There is no toilet paper because it cannot be flushed down the toilet due to the small pipes. Instead, they have a separate hose here to clean oneself. I have to get used to that. Just like the constantly brown water that comes out of the tap here. My colleagues told me that even white laundry turns brown in the washing machine because of that. Let's see how I deal with that. I spare you the photos of this.

But now let's talk about my first day of work: At first, they showed me everything here, where everything is and so on. Then we started taking the dogs for a walk. The best part of yesterday was definitely when we brought the little puppies to the cat house to socialize with the cats. I immediately fell in love with the puppy I got to carry. That was really the highlight of my day.

There are three shifts here in total: morning shift (7-13 o'clock), afternoon shift (13-19 o'clock) and night shift (19-7 o'clock). But you only have to do a night shift once a week. My first night shift is on Sunday. For the first three days, I have the afternoon shift before I have the morning shift on Saturday and Sunday.

I will get back to you with more information about the project in the next few days.

Yours, Alex

Chhanna
