Trip zum Rainbow Mountain

Paskelbta: 16.02.2024

The alarm clock woke me up at ten to three. I was able to sleep relatively well yesterday, but was awake a few times. I got ready and then opened the window because my window faces the front so I can hear the car. At 3:15 there was a guy walking around outside and he was the guide for the day. They were parked around the corner. The bus was completely full except for one seat. I don't like that at all. I sat at the front on a three-person bench on the far right and the other two were extremely spread out. This time we had 2 guides and the driver and we are 15 people in total. We drove almost 2 hours to a place called Cusipata to have breakfast. I was expecting the standard meal, 2 rolls, scrambled eggs and jam, but there was a buffet. There was quinoa soup, coffee, tea, a wide selection of fruits such as melon, papaya and more. And with that you could put together a muesli with yogurt and a few healthy grains. There were also rolls, cheese, sausage, pancakes, jams and scrambled eggs. Of course we all got there pretty well. Everyone was still half asleep. Then we are further. We would actually have to drive for an hour now, but the normal route is closed and so we take a detour that takes 2 hours. There was a toilet break on the way. I was able to get a little sleep in the car before breakfast, but afterward I was awake. When we arrived, the route was explained to us again. We can also take horses or motorbikes. We are now at 4000 meters altitude and the highest point will be at 5000 meters altitude. The hike up to that point took a good 2 hours and was really strenuous, which was also due to the low oxygen levels. I found the path challenging, but it was dry and not too hot. When we arrived we were able to climb up to the summit and the view was magnificent. And also that we left so early because it was so crowded on the way back. At the top of the summit we all took photos and rested. Then we had the option of climbing up another mountain, which is what most of us did. She didn't feel like it and so I enjoyed the view at the summit. I could have stayed there all day. My group was a bit difficult again or I didn't really catch up. Everyone could go down at their own pace. Rainbow Mountain is the second largest attraction in Cusco after Machu Picchu, even though it is only a few years old. Photos would be taken while hiking in the area and they would spread on the Internet. Everything that is raised here goes to the families who live here. The city gets nothing. Once we got to the bottom we got on the bus and are now taking the van to lunch. I'm curious to see what's available. So this hike is definitely worth it.
