My model flight comrades from Germany asked me... In many cases, the model builders have become consumers who buy their complete model from China. So it was interesting to see if flying is also done here. We were just letting the kite fly in front of Suzhou Center when I spotted the first relic of model flying, a broken propeller. Material: wood, size 11x5', which indicates a 300-500 watt electric motor that could power a model with a wingspan of 1.10m. What is it doing here?

We got the answer a little later. A model pilot actually flew an aircraft at the edge of the field. The 'pedestrian' spectators walked around the pilot and under the flying model. Not entirely without danger, which is why this would be unthinkable in Germany nowadays. Nevertheless, we went there and took a closer look. I spoke to the colleague and once again it became clear that a shared hobby can build bridges across the river of cultural and language differences.
