This morning things continued like yesterday. Rain. And more rain. And to make sure it gets wet everywhere: wind. It's really shaking up our little trailer. But: we are in Norway and this weather is not that unexpected. So we make the best of it and start the day very comfortably.
So we get to admire the beautiful campsite. We have a lake view from our window and that alone is wonderful. Screw the rain, it's just fabulous to look at such beautiful nature in the morning.
Around midday we set off on our sightseeing trip to Bergen. One thing was clear: no tours, no fjord trips, no long queues, just walk through the city yourself and see what you can discover. So sightseeing light.
We headed for Bryggen unerringly, because you can take a look at a Unesco world heritage site like that. And yes, these houses are really beautiful and there is something about this flair. In the spirit of tourism, we were tempted to have a lunchtime snack at the small fish market. Salmon burger for Günter and whale burger for Natascha. Let's put it this way: the whale burger is good as an experience, you also have to learn what you don't like 😉
Timing is everything. A ship arrived with us at about the same time for a day trip. People without end. A reason to escape from the promenade into alleys outside the dozens of shops. And lo and behold, we found some nice motifs here too.
First we went to the fortress, which surprisingly had very few visitors. The tower is probably the oldest Renaissance building in the country. From there we started another attempt to explore the alleys with the wooden houses and the crowd was much better distributed so that we too were able to take the classic Bergen photos.
From there we went to the Nordnes district. Here again through the alleys, browsing in shops and looking for a nice coffee for a coffee break and a tasty mess. Luckily - we found what we were looking for!
Natascha was particularly impressed by the pretty pavilion in the small city park. One or two photos still had to be taken. While strolling we discovered two old friends with whom we quickly took a photo. Otherwise you only see them on TV.
And then we slowly had enough and went back towards the parking garage. As I said, sightseeing light. After spending so much time alone on the roads and only a few people at the campsites, large crowds of people quickly get tired of it. And we still had 8.5 km on the clock 😮 In order to do justice to Bergen in all its splendor and explore everything, we would definitely need a city trip there lasting several days. Another time then. This evening we'd rather plan our journey to the Sognefjord tomorrow and treat ourselves to a “cheap” beer from the supermarket. Cheers 🍻
