Mafia Island

While Jens and Tüte unfortunately have to fly home again, we have decided to treat ourselves to 10 days on Mafia Island. The underwater world is said to be a dream here and in general, it is much quieter than on Zanzibar, which we really appreciate after the action-packed last few days.

Highlights: Flying with a small propeller plane, the magnificent snorkeling tour with up to 7-meter-long whale sharks, dinner with a full moon rise on the beach, Flos fishing adventure with the locals, watching crabs dig

Exciting moments: I was sick for 6 days in between and as a precaution we took a malaria test as well as a COVID-19 test - luckily both negative, seeing a shark (!!) swimming next to the 7-meter-long whale shark while snorkeling - it looked extremely small compared to the giant but it was simply a shark that was about 1 1/2 meters long!!
