Today's destination, which we defined yesterday, was Noja. Running distance 'only' 22km, but many demanding altimeters. First, we went to the ferry to Santona along the long beach. There, the path was initially very challenging, leading up to Monte Buchiero. Over scree, rocky sections, and dark forest paths, it went constantly steeply uphill. At a crossroads, we had to decide whether to take a detour of 700 steps (first downhill, then uphill again) to visit an old lighthouse. We opted for the sensible path and continued towards Berria. One special feature during the descent to Playa de Berria was the large prison complex with an attached cemetery and a clear view of the sea. You would like to sit here 😎. The last section at Playa de Berria turned into a very steep ascent and later descent to Noja, first sandy and then rocky. With the goal in sight, there were only 3 km of lonely sandy beach with beautiful surf ahead of us, which we really enjoyed (wellness walking on sea sand). The visit to the La Casona pilgrim pension was very pleasant, a nice man with knowledge of German and a large clean room. The crowning glory was a visit to a vinoteca, with delicious Iberian ham, Cantabrian cheese platter, and tasty red wine.
