The Bridge of River Kwai, Kanchanaburi

Paskelbta: 03.12.2018

Today we visited the bridge over the River Kwai. The black iron railway bridge was built by prisoners of war from the Japanese army in World War II. Due to the often cruel working conditions for the prisoners of war, many died during the construction of the bridge and railway line. This earned the railway bridge the name Death Railway. After the war, the bridge was rebuilt to its original state. Today, the railway takes you to the western town of Nam Tok. The bridge became famous through the film adaptation of the novel 'The Bridge on the River Kwai'.

The crowds made us feel that as well. Nevertheless, visiting the bridge and taking the train ride was worth it.
