We have reached one of the biggest stopovers: Sydney! On the way here, we made a little detour to Fitzroy Falls, which plunge 82m into a gorge. A dreamy sight! Actually, we wanted to visit the Figure 8 Pools in the afternoon. But that would have required a two-hour hike through the forest. 3 PM was not the best idea, especially when it gets dark on the mountain at 4:30 PM. So we decided to skip it. Instead, we spent almost 2 hours shopping at the supermarket - a dream for Basti. Finally, we arrived in Sydney and entered our Airbnb, which would be our home for the next 4 days. When we opened the door, we immediately realized that we could only stay here for one night at most. It's rarely seen to have so much dirt in a house. There was no electricity in 2 bathrooms, the circuit breaker in the kitchen was broken, water stains on the floor, stoned roommates... No way! Luckily, we had planned to explore the nightlife of Sydney anyway, so we only slept there briefly. The new accommodation was quickly booked and turned out to be a stroke of luck. More on that later. Anyway, we arrived in the city late at night and immediately felt underdressed. No one can walk in these shoes that are worn here 😂 Somehow, we ended up in a pretty expensive area and paid 30 dollars for 1 beer and 1 Aperol. What a rip-off! We couldn't find an affordable club with Basti's music genre, so we started walking to the Opera House, the landmark of the city. This building is stunning! We went to bed at 2 AM and the next day started at 7:30 AM. We quickly packed everything into the car and left! The goal was downtown. After searching for a parking space for 30 minutes, we walked to Darling Harbor. Incredibly cute! The sun was shining on us. After lunch at Lord of the Fries, we wanted to take a closer look at the Opera House and the Bridge. Just as we got off the tram, we ran into Basti's parents. X million people live in this city and of all things, we meet each other - crazy!! So we took a tour of the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge together. In the evening, there was going to be a fireworks display in the harbor. We found a cozy restaurant nearby with a view of the fireworks and waited. It may not have been the New Year's fireworks, but it was still very beautiful! On the way to the new accommodation, we were stopped by the police for a drug test. It seems to be common here. Now we've finally made it and we're absolutely thrilled. Incredibly nice hosts, a great room, and above all, everything is spotlessly clean! I like coming home like this. Tomorrow, the day starts at 5 AM. We're going on a tour of the Blue Mountains.
