Today I'm writing and it hits me - we've been on the road in our new life for 8 weeks. At 5.10 a.m. we get the message from Jesse that it's been 5 years since we had the giant accident on the way to Hamburg and we as people nothing happened, except that our car was scrap. Yeah, Jesse says today you can toast to life - we'll do that -
So
Life is good to us. We have now circumnavigated Newfoundland and criss-crossed the country. Let's not kid ourselves-fir forests-miles away-how did we imagine it? No idea. Wide silence- And always great bays and pitches. The weather is changeable. Great weather and you spend the time outside. Then the storm comes and thunderstorms up to 11*C and you make pizza at home.
We were in Cap St. Mary's on the bird island (the largest in the world. Totally crazy how many birds come together in one place. You know that from Helgoland (again a comparison). We leave MANNI in the parking lot and go to the Ranger station. There the nice lady who is responsible for everything prints out the names of the birds in German.. Jörg found it particularly great: for guillemots (which is funny anyway) they say here: Murre Turre (I'm Murre Turre now🙄 😜)
The hiking trail to the Vogelfelsen is quite a bit there. We're lucky and it's not that busy yet, because we're always out early. On the way back, tourists meet us and ask us: Are you the Meyers: A.Meyer,J. Meyer and Freddy the dog? We :yes But Freddy is pure Tomcat. We are always happy to be asked about our car.
We drive on and want to visit the Vikings at the northernmost tip of Newfoundland.L'Ause also Meadows Port au Choix Red Bay.I love that kind of thing. Immerse yourself in ancient times. It's great and we're walking on Viking paths.
We find a campground for the night. Here is a launderette and internet.
And...we kept a bottle of red wine for special moments (and as I said, we are at the northernmost point of Newfoundland) "The Little Pied Piper" by Dirk Beye, which Anke gave us for Christmas. We treat ourselves to the homemade pizza.
In the morning we drive to the next small town - St.Antonys. Here Jörg gets his plexiglass pane for the water tank!
Then we go to our predetermined parking space on the local mountain of the city. Great weather
Tomorrow we go to the ferry station-Labrador.
From there we will keep you informed
Until then
Anette Jörg and Freddy 😎
