Visiting the Chicago Bulls / Visit to the Chicago Bulls

🇩🇪 "I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying"

- Michael Jordan

With this quote, I welcome you to another entry in our digital travel blog. For us it is the first full day in the third largest city in America - Chicago. We were all aware of what was on plan for today: for one part of the students we went to the Chicago Bulls game together with Mrs. Göllnitz, the other part went to see the play 'Wicked' accompanied by Mrs. Michl. In my blog entry I report about the visit to the United Center and the Chicago Bulls game. At the same time, another post written by Tim was uploaded.

Compared to the life in a host family and the corresponding school day we could sleep in today. Shortly after eight my day started. I took a shower, brushed my teeth and got ready before going to breakfast around half past eight. The selection of the breakfast buffet was not that big...

Bagels, toast, some fruit and cornflakes. Nevertheless, it was sufficient, I was full and was strengthened for the day. After that, we went to our rooms for a short while before joining a Hop-On Hop-Off tour at 10. One of many ways to explore many sides of the city in a short time. The almost perfect weather conditions allowed us to use the upper deck of the bus. So we could see sights like Soldier Field (stadium of the Chicago Bears) or the Navy Pier very well. The bus driver's wealth of information helped me to understand both the history and the infrastructure of Chicago a bit more.

After we had learned some new things and especially seen a lot, the tour ended around 12. During the tour, some students became hungry. So we went to eat something for lunch. Quickly snacked on a burger and some fries and then we went on, such a metropolis simply offers too much to leave our time unused. So Alex, Charlotte, Vincent, Florian, Keno, Matti and I strolled through the streets of Chicago. Finally, we found ourselves back at the hostel around 4 p.m. to get ready for the highlight of the day.

A good hour later, the basketball squad met in the lobby and we set off. By Uber (Uber: comparable to a cab) we went in small groups to the United Center, the venue of the Bulls. We were there almost 2 hours before the start of the game to avoid the crowds of fans. The Bulls' opponents today were the Cleveland Cavaliers. While most of us chose seats in the upper tiers, Florian and I had tickets for seats in the lower tiers, closer to the field. The atmosphere during the game was absolutely awesome! Both on offense and defense, the crowd was chanting. Unfortunately, the Bulls lost 128-96. Nevertheless, it was an experience that I will definitely not forget.

After the end of the game, we left and went to look for an Uber to take us back to the hostel. Not much later, everyone arrived back at our accommodation. Afterwards, we let our first full day in Chicago end in the lobby and are already looking forward to tomorrow.

I hope your day was at least as nice and eventful as mine. Already tomorrow another edition of our travel blog will follow.
