179 m above sea level (07/24/2018)

Today we went up high...

I went up to the Turning Torso in Malmö with my host family. This tower was built by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It was inaugurated on August 27, 2005, and at 190 m, it is the tallest skyscraper in Scandinavia. The building has offices and 147 apartments and studios.

The Turning Torso is only accessible to visitors from week 28 to week 31 of the year. Tickets must be reserved in advance.

At 1 pm, we took the elevator up to the 54th floor, which is located 179 m above sea level. From there, we had a great view of Malmö, Denmark, and the Øresund Bridge.

After enjoying the view for a while, a presentation was given by one of the staff members. It was about the construction of the building, the architect, and the idea behind the tower. We also learned about the apartments and office spaces. Even though the presentation was in Swedish, I understood almost everything. Even if I didn't understand every word, I could grasp the meaning. It was very interesting.
