Roturoa and the consequences of a volcanic eruption in 1886

ຈັດພີມມາ: 12.02.2023

After the exertion in Tongariro National Park, we drive to Rotorua, where we relax in a thermal bath with different hot, sulfur-rich spring water in various basins. Outside and overlooking Lake Rotorua. Wonderful!

The next day we continue to Waitamo, where we want to visit the glowworm caves.

On the way there, we stop at Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Here, a narrow valley was formed in 1886 during the eruption of Mt Tarawera, which has since been reclaimed by nature. Boiling water and toxic vapors feed this largest hot spring in the world.

Now we are unfortunately sitting in continuous rain in our comfortable 'bedroom, where it rains through the window 🤣 and drinking red wine. 😜

It is supposed to continue raining until Tuesday 🙈
