Great Ocean Road-Melbourne

Published: 23.12.2016

From now on it was road trip again. We were on our way to the famous Great Ocean Road. We stopped at a blue lake along the way. It's really blue. :D

Before we could drive on the Great Ocean Road, we had to spend another night at a campsite.

When we finally got on the Great Ocean Road, the weather was not our friend. It was dry most of the time, but very windy. It was difficult to take photos because the camera couldn't stay still. But we still visited all the viewpoints. Of course, we were constantly followed by Asians.
It was really cool, because we had previously only seen everything in photos and now we were actually here.

Since we couldn't drive the whole route in one day, we spent another night at a campsite. The last part of the route was very short but ran directly along the coast. There were also forests along the way. It's indescribably beautiful. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos because we were driving the whole time.

And suddenly we were already in Melbourne. Since there are no cheap hostels there around Christmas, we parked at a park and slept in the car. There is no sign anywhere that camping is prohibited. But we had to walk about 5 kilometers to get to the city. So we had to walk a lot for a week. My legs weren't used to it at first and hurt for the first few days. I haven't taken any photos yet because Laura is coming here in February and we can look at everything together.

After the first two days, I suddenly felt homesick. The first time since I've been here! I realized that I had come so far in Australia and with my money I could normally see the rest now and be done with Australia in 1-2 months. But my return flight is already booked for July. We didn't do much on those days and I ate a lot of chocolate.

For Christmas and New Year's Eve, I booked an apartment with another German girl, just 10 minutes from the beach. So I'm still in Melbourne until January 3rd. I didn't know what would happen after that. Either I would have to work or do HelpX again. But actually, I have enough money, so I decided to do HelpX. But because of my homesickness phase, I considered going back to my first host family in Willalooka. Fortunately, they are happy to have me back and I will take the bus back on January 3rd. It's in a different state, but luckily the bus runs daily. I will be on the road for about 8 hours, but I'm so excited to go back. I will stay there until Laura and Christine come in February. Then the three of us will fly to Tasmania and afterwards we will spend a few days in Melbourne. When the two of them fly back, I will stay in Melbourne for a few more days because Adele is coming! :) And I bought a concert ticket for my birthday.
I still don't know what will happen after that. Either work or go up to Brisbane. But there is still time until then and now it's Christmas.

Here you don't get into the Christmas mood at all, but I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 2017. The year I will come back. I've been here for almost 3 months now, who can believe it? It already feels like an eternity to me.

Once I'm back in Willalooka, there won't be any new updates here for a while because I don't have fast internet there.
