Spurred on by my last amazing trip on my first real day here, I went back to London this weekend.
And on such a bright sunny day and 10 degrees plus, it seemed more than appropriate, right?
For that, we took the train from Hatfield to Kings Cross.
I had almost forgotten how impressive this station is. The beautiful roof (and the Harry Potter shop :D) and the many people. You can tell immediately - London is busy! But what else would you expect on a Saturday in a city like this?
From there, we went to the Westfield Shopping Center, where we shopped in the trendiest stores for a few hours. In between, we had a delicious baguette for lunch at Pret a Manger, which I already knew from New York. Yummy!
When we had enough of shopping, we continued to the legendary Hyde Park. Barely had we gotten off, when I already got the first drop.
Seriously?! We had just spent several hours in a shopping center under the brightest sunshine - and now, when we wanted to take a walk outside, it was raining.
That's what I call irony of fate (or bad planning :D).
But it didn't stop at the rain. Just as we reached the lake, it started to hail - at 10 degrees plus! But at least we were now treated to one beautiful sight after another: the sun forcefully making its way through the front of clouds, and even a rainbow could be seen.
In view of the bad weather, we fled the park relatively soon and visited a museum in the nearby and very pretty district of Kensington.
The Victoria & Albert Museum had a lot to offer - exhibitions on paintings, history, jewelry, fashion, Europe, Britain, Asia, Rome, ...
If you can't find an exhibition here that interests you, I can't help you either :D I found it very exciting in any case.
To put it in a nutshell: In retrospect, I wouldn't plan anything differently ^^ And I'm already looking forward to my next visit to London. I already have a feeling that I will never get enough of this city :)
Take care!
Yours,
Leonie
