Hey guys :)
Last night we went out on the moped again, looking for a nice bar with Margaritas - but without success. It's great being out of season, no people, usually finding a parking spot is no problem, but many things are still closed. The village yesterday was like a ghost town! Only one restaurant and a really uncomfortable 'drinking dive' were open. We unanimously decided to postpone the drink to another place with a nice beach bar.
On the way back we passed by the abandoned house again. At night it looked quite eerie...
This morning we made our way here: Benicarló. Once we spotted our accommodation and deemed it 'good', we drove around a bit more. The plan was actually to go diving today no matter what, but Kevin injured his toe so badly that it would be impossible. It's changing colors now and it's even hard for him to walk a little. Hopefully it will heal soon...
In the neighboring town 'Peníscola' there is an attractive water access. We have already been there and looked at everything, but due to the circumstances, we went shopping for some groceries and tobacco instead.
By the way, we are rolling our own cigarettes again - so we save considerably on one of the main expenses.
On the way back we passed by another abandoned house where we could park easily. So we went on a discovery tour. This was probably supposed to be a hotel building at some point. Downstairs was the garage, which was almost finished, even already painted. On the ground floor was a kind of entrance area with toilets. Going up the stairs led to the next building with the rooms. Most of the building had been deliberately destroyed: windows were smashed, walls had holes from punches and shoes, and the tiles on the bathroom walls had been torn down.
After exploring everything, we drove back to our overnight spot today.
Tonight we might go out again in search of a sweet bar, maybe we have better chances here. :)
There is a parrot park nearby called 'Jardin el Papagayo', where you can even feed turtles!!! We have scheduled that for tomorrow :) After that, we will see how Kevin's toe is doing - if he's better, we'll jump into the water at the discovered diving spot, otherwise we will continue towards 'Alicante'. Probably still not in one go, as it would take another 3.5 hours, but maybe Valencia would be an option for tomorrow?
Let us surprise you - we're doing just that :))
See you tomorrow!
