We will pick up Philipp at the airport in Prince George today. The kids are already eager to tell their dad all about their adventures.
On the way there, we are initially greeted by two bears at the roadside, and then the drive takes us through a lonely, wide, forest- and lake-rich landscape.
We reach Hixon Falls via a narrow, bumpy gravel road. We are alone on the way and the children sing loudly ‚Oh Christmas Tree‘ on the short, almost overgrown hiking trail to scare off any bears. The waterfall is idyllic between rocks and the reddish-brown iron-rich water glistens in the sun.
The plane from Canada Airlines lands almost on time. With Philipp on board our spacious Toyota, we head south on the Yellowhead Highway for an overnight stay in McBride. Due to persistent thunderstorms, the snow-covered peaks of the Rockies all around can only be guessed.
