Picos de Europa Nationalpark - Cares Route

Hello everyone,

This is the last post for today and in this one, like the last one, I let the pictures do the talking rather than me. So in a figurative sense, since you only hear me with your own voice in your head.

After I checked into the campsite and calculated the hiking hours and the journey, I actually wanted to wait until Friday morning to do my hike. Actually. Unfortunately, the weather report put me under a bit of pressure because it was supposed to drizzle in the mountains the next day.

Since the weather was still nice that day and, with a bit of a bit more walk, there was still a 2-hour buffer until sunset, so I quickly set off for the national park to complete the first few kilometers of the Ruta del Cares hike make. This tour is particularly well-known in the mountains because it is easy to reach and doesn't have that many meters in altitude. I still noticed that on the way because there were a lot of hikers coming towards me and there was still a lot going on.

This route is not known for nothing, as it really impressed me in the first few kilometers alone. The view is spectacular and on the last thermal updrafts, vultures dart through the valleys and past the peaks.

I kept discovering abandoned houses from times gone by.

The path itself, as you can see from the pictures, is extremely well developed and well run. So sure-footedness is not a requirement here.

Here and there you can also see the goats, which feel at home here and are sure to receive a treat or two from the hikers.

In the background you can always hear and sometimes see the river that has created these valleys since time immemorial.

A great hike with a lasting impression and spectacular views.

With the worry of an almost empty tank, I went back to the campsite and went swimming in the sea again, as this campsite also had direct access to the beach.
