6th day, Part 2 (13.08.22)

Kryštof messaged me while I was still writing my first report, saying that I could unload my things at his place. This offer was very helpful to me, as I had been carrying my full load all day and my feet were aching. So I walked the few meters to his apartment in a small Scandinavian house, had a little chat with him, and continued on. My first stop was the fjord.

I walked through the industrial district of the Trondheim harbor, consisting of brick buildings, warehouses, and numerous cranes, until I reached a long canal promenade that led into the cold water of the fjord. There, I sat down and called an old friend.

After the call, I wanted to get a better view of the fjord, so I strolled around the harbor area and eventually found an unrestricted view of the massive body of water. In the middle of the fjord is a small island with a fortress, which used to defend the city and also served as a particularly escape-proof prison. In front of the viewpoint, there was a statue of Leiv Eiriksson, the Viking who sailed from Europe to America before Columbus.

After that, I wandered the streets lightly, ate apples, and admired the architecture, passing by a convention for Japanese anime art. I wanted to walk along the other river promenade once more and headed towards the river, passing by the cathedral again. At the riverbank, I discovered a small climbing rock that I could not resist. So clumsily, in my sturdy boots, I slowly made my way up the rock. Once at the top, I sat rather uncomfortably on the peak and let my eyes wander over the landscape. The way down turned out to be much more challenging, but after a few steps in the rock crevices, I was back down again.

I wanted to find a nice spot to relax, so I discovered some rocks on the other side of the riverbank, which were located at a rapids. So I went over the old bridge and shared my retreat only with two comfortable seagulls. There, I watched the current rise and fall and got an idea of the power of water. I called another friend and we chatted for a while.

At some point, Kryštof called me and informed me about the evening plans. We wanted to go to a student dormitory and play games there. So I walked across the university campus, with the main building made of rough gray stone and its two green towers, down to the dormitory.

When I arrived at the dormitory, I found a large common room with a pool table and table tennis, as well as many generous seating options. We played a few rounds of pool first and then followed it up with several rounds of cards. By the time the sun had long said goodbye, we said our goodbyes as well and walked back home through the bright Trondheim night. There, I laid out my sleeping bag and pillow on Kryštof's couch, where I am now lying and writing.
