Norway Trip May 26-June 17, 2022/ May 29

Today we continue early towards Sortland, around 8 o'clock we cross the Arctic Circle 66.33 in Saltfjellveien where there are still some snow remnants and corresponding temperatures. The Polarsirkelsenteret is still closed, so after a short photo stop we continue, with beautiful weather, up and down mountains, through countless tunnels, along Skjerstadfjorden and Sorfoldofjorden towards Bognes, where we take the car ferry to Lodingen. Our concern whether we are doing everything correctly was quickly resolved. Simply park the rental car in the line 'Lodingen' (not in the reserved ones), follow the guide, that's it. In Lodingen, take the ferry, payment will be made through the Autopass when returning the car. After about an hour's drive, we reach our beautiful accommodation in Sortland. Sortland is a municipality in the Norwegian county of Nordland, which includes parts of the islands Langoya and Hinnoya belonging to the island group Vesteralen. The municipality has about 10,000 inhabitants. It is also called the blue city, beginning of the new millennium the city had the idea to paint it blue. Our impressive day with so much diverse nature ends with a Jass game.
