When I first opened my eyes, a sunbeam shone through the curtain. But from the balcony, I couldn't overlook the gray clouds over the mainland. We met Danny and SchwΓ€gi for breakfast at the service restaurant at eight o'clock. We started the morning comfortably. Today we had a trip to Maracas Beach planned, while the other two went paddleboarding in the Caroni Sanctuary. As we were getting ready for the beach day, we heard muffled drum sounds. Looking from the balcony, we saw a small group with Caribbean steel drums and two men dancing on stilts. The rhythmic Brazilian-sounding beats were a nice welcome in the port of Trinidad and encouraged us to join in. After signing up for the excursion, we could take a closer look at the group outside. This time, there were also some dancers who could dance very, very, very low limbo under the bar. It was impressive, and I could have watched for even longer, but we had to continue to the bus. Twelve of us set off for one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. We drove through the Victorian-influenced, bustling capital on the outskirts. Outside, the road led us steeply uphill towards the north, unfortunately, light rain started and the further up we went, the thicker the fog became. At the second viewpoint, we could only see the railing. When we arrived at the beach, the weather cleared up slightly, and the sun made a brief appearance. The beach was idyllically located in a bay surrounded by palm trees. During our stay, we had to flee from two small showers, but otherwise, we relaxed for about 2 hours and enjoyed the view. In my opinion, time flew by too quickly, and the ambiguous time indication for the return trip caused some annoyance. Some had been sitting on the bus longer until the last ones arrived. Just in time for departure, the sun fought its way back through and allowed us to take a photo from the second viewpoint this time. We reached the ship around 2 pm, where a long line had already formed. Danny and SchwΓ€gi were also back, and we met up for an afternoon snack. Strengthened, we decided to go to the gym, which was not as crowded as usual this time. On the way back to the cabin, SchwΓ€gi and I joined in for a workout on the deck. To rhythmic music, a mix of salsa and Zumba was offered, which made my heart beat faster. :-)
That evening, we met earlier to finally redeem our cocktail vouchers. Then we went for dinner, where the teacher couple was also present, and we were the last ones to leave the dining room.
