Germany experienced its debacle against South Korea at the 2018 FIFA World Cup here. But that didn't stop us from heading to Kazan with our heads held high.
The journey (580 km) was not much shorter than the previous days, but thanks to the better roads, we made slightly better progress. After only 10 hours, we arrived. The time change of 2 hours behind actually worked in our favor.
In the morning, there was a brief opportunity to enjoy the panorama from the well-known viewpoint in Ufa, a complex with an equestrian statue.
Today, our lunch break was a bit longer. So we had the opportunity to explore the nicely decorated small town of Elabuga.
In Kazan, we are staying at the "Mariott" directly at the local Kremlin. Unfortunately, there was no time for a night tour of the city. We will explore the city tomorrow with a guided tour.
The time was set back 2 hours again, so now there is only a one-hour difference. However, it doesn't feel like the right time zone, as it gets light at 04:00 AM and dark already around five o'clock.
