A little tired and with a slight hangover because we apparently had a few too many drinks last night, we left San Francisco this morning and headed towards Yosemite National Park.
The last great adventure before returning to our beloved home. The journey should take about 3 hours, but before heading towards Coulterville (about 50 miles from Yosemite), we made a "short" pit stop at the San Francisco Premium Outlet Center, which happened to be on our way.
From Gucci to Banana Republic, we found everything we needed here and we took full advantage of it this time, because shopping has been a bit limited during our trip so far. All the more reason to stock up on new sports gear from Nike or new shoes, as the outlet centers in America cannot be compared to the ones back home: yes, they also have last season's models that no one wants, but also a lot of new collections, but at much lower prices ;)
1-2 hours later, the hangover started to kick in and it was time for a quick bite. Here we finally had something healthy to eat after weeks, because that's very difficult in America. Junk food and calorie bombs are everywhere and every little town has at least one McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Wendy's, all high-profile fast food kings.
But if you want to eat healthy, it often gets very expensive here, especially when you go to a restaurant you can easily spend $60-70 for 2 salads and a glass of wine.
We definitely missed home-cooked meals during the past 3 weeks! But we survived and are looking forward to our fast food detox for the next few weeks :D
After our big shopping spree and spending a few dollars, we continued towards Coulterville, a small and cozy town in the middle of the forest. Once again, we booked accommodation on Airbnb with Larry and Mary, who rent out several rooms in a small cabin! It was so cozy and it smelled like a fireplace everywhere. Thanks again for the tip Giulia Magliani!!!! It was really great here. We also got to know other guests, including a German couple, a couple from England, and another one from Holland. Our little cabin was truly multicultural tonight! But that's the beauty of Airbnb, you get to meet so many different people during your trip and everyone gives each other tips and advice, you just feel at home no matter where you are.
We watched a few episodes of "How I met your mother" and now it's time to sleep.
You can hear the rain pouring down on the roof outside and it's really cozy here in the middle of the forest.
Tomorrow we're going to Yosemite National Park. We hope the weather doesn't ruin our plans because autumn has also arrived here in all its glory! ;)
Good night everyone!!!!!!
