After Byron, we headed towards the Gold Coast/Surfers Paradise. We took the opportunity to cruise through the beautiful hinterland and make a stop at Springbrook National Park and the Currumbin Rock Pools along the way. After a refreshing swim, we visited a small market...and it was definitely worth it. When we left the market with our new travel wallet, we discovered a kangaroo in front of our car. Looking to the right, we suddenly saw a whole kangaroo clan (or is it a horde, a pack, or a clan? We don't know.) We watched them eating on the grass. It was the first time for both of us to see kangaroos in the wild...simply indescribable.
Full of adrenaline and happiness, we headed to the Gold Coast. Our goal was to camp for free on the first night. That means somewhere in a parking lot or park, without having to pay. However, our research has already shown that it will be difficult. There were definitely no official places. Unfortunately, it was already dark and the search was accordingly difficult. We also had to realize that the Gold Coast consists mostly of villas. After driving around for a while, we decided on a spot on a gravel surface, but in the midst of the aforementioned villas. Always keeping in mind that an Aussie police officer would knock on the window at any moment. Luckily, only the rain knocked on our roof until morning. So we got up early in the morning and made ourselves a royal breakfast at a BBQ station right by the water.
So we both experienced two excited first times. Next stop, Noosa.
