The first proper week

Hello everyone,

a few days have passed again, but fortunately warmer days (+5 to +10 degrees).

In the past few days, I visited the Deoksugung, Changgyeonggung, and Gyeongbokgung Palaces with some friends here. These are really huge palaces, but they really do a good job of shielding the noise of the city. It feels like every king and every era had their own palace, so I still have a few to visit. The contrast between skyscrapers and old buildings is always interesting.

In addition, we often visited the Iksedong Heritage Village, where there are incredibly cozy restaurants and cafes lined up, and I was in heaven there. We also ate at the Gwangjang Market often. Here, you can find more hearty Korean dishes (specialties include Bindaetteok - a type of pancake with beef, fish, or vegetarian options - and soups). Once, I ordered a portion of noodles with red sauce and vegetables, which turned out to be a mistake. The noodles came with plastic gloves - a sign that it's very spicy.

I have also visited some interesting museums.

Oh, and the university has already started. Some subjects are a bit difficult because the professors don't always speak English very well. Due to the current corona situation (94 deaths per day and an incidence of 160,000), most courses are initially held online - which I don't mind :D

Best regards from Seoul
