Isabela Island Galapagos

បោះពុម្ពផ្សាយ: 11.06.2019

Today at around 8:45 am, our guide Edie picked us up for the Bay Tour. We didn't know exactly what the itinerary was, so we let ourselves be surprised. We were definitely supposed to have snorkeling equipment with us. With Edie, we walked down to the pier, and along the way, he named every flower and tree. I told Daniela, pay close attention, he's definitely going to ask you about it later. Upon arriving at the pier, we got on a boat and sailed out a bit. Then Edie said, now look at the water, there are big sharks here. Hm, yeah right - I didn't see anything -. One of the crew threw something into the water and dear people, yes, the sharks came and they were huge. Wow, I was a bit scared. SOOOOOOOOOO dear Mama B. and Papa B., you can thank me that Daniela doesn't come home like Captain Hook. She actually said to me, how cool is that, put your arm in there and take some photos with the diving camera. Uhhh Hello, no - YOU DEFINITELY WON'T DO THAT!!!!! Daniela actually started a discussion with me about why she thought it was safe, etc. No way, I stood my ground and convinced her not to do it. Those creatures were really something else compared to the ones we saw while snorkeling, and as fast as they bit into the thing the guide threw in the water....no we better keep all body parts in the boat. Daniela actually asked the guide, 'Edie can we swim here'? Edie looked at Daniela as if she was out of her mind and with a laugh he said, no, security forbids it!
After this shark experience, we went to an island. There were large iguanas living there and we could observe lots of blue-footed boobies. We got off the boat and walked across the island, and again Edie named every plant for us, even their age. Both of us were naturally very interested, but it was actually too hot for such a hike. But we both knew that after the hike, snorkeling was on the agenda, so we bravely hiked with Edie and listened carefully. Then we finally got into the water, we jumped from the boat into the sea. It was a little cold, but it didn't bother us much. We saw 4 or even 5 turtles and one of them was huge. It was worth it once again. We didn't see any sharks this time, but we saw other colorful fish and a huge school of fish. Back on the boat, we had a snack and then headed back to the pier. We said goodbye to Edie and quickly walked back to the hotel.
Today was actually our first island hopping experience. This means that we will spend the next 2 days on Isabela Island. With a speedboat and motion sickness tablets, we headed towards Isabella for 2 hours. Despite the fast speed, we saw dolphins. That was another beautiful experience. Thanks to the tablets, we were able to sleep and in no time, we were there! Isabela is completely different from Santa Cruz, here are long white beaches with coconut palms, and it has a different charm here. Right now, I'm sitting on our balcony, looking out at the open sea and listening to the waves. Yes, I would say I'm feeling really good right now, and Daniela with her two arms too :-)))))))!
Tomorrow we will be picked up early again for another snorkeling tour. They say that snorkelers can also see hammerhead sharks here. Well, a baby one would be enough for me. I will report tomorrow on what we have seen.
Greetings from Anke and Daniela
PS: Mama B. and Papa B., I'm still taking good care of Daniela - PROMISE - I just wonder, where did she get it from.....haha!

Photos will be uploaded later due to poor internet!
