The journey continued, after a short stop in Cairns, now to Townsville and Magnetic Island, which I was particularly excited about, after both were flooded in February and had to be canceled...Β
On the morning of June 15th, Carina (Steph's sister) and I took the car ferry to Magnetic Island after a 30-minute crossing. Here we arrived, explored the island by car and then did the Forts Walk on foot, which had some beautiful lookouts and the fort at the end of the trail had this highlight:
Koala π¨ mom with baby!Β
Wallaby mom with baby!Β
After we took about 20,000 pictures here, we drove to Horseshoe Bay. Who can guess what shape it has? π€ πΒ
Here we treated ourselves to some ice cream and sat down at the beach to soak up the sun. 28Β°C, clear blue sky, and they call this winter here. I should seriously consider moving here π€·πΌββοΈ.Β
After that, we continued to the Horseshoe Ranch, where we started a 3-hour horseback ride on the island and on the beach. And as if it wasn't enough to ride horses on the beach, we also went swimming with them! Omg, a real highlight of the entire trip! πΒ
Back at home, we went to dinner in a sports bar and then went to bed π΄.Β
The next day, we visited Townsville. In the morning, we strolled around the Sunday market of the city, and then I was driven to the Billabong Sanctuary. Here you can see crocs, emus, snakes, dingoes, wombats, and of course koalas, and you get lots of information and facts about them. Definitely worth a visit.Β
Well, and that's it. The next morning, we continued to Airlie Beach at 6:15 am. What do you think we experienced there? π€Β
