The Twelve Apostles are standalone limestone rock formations in the sea and the highlight of the Great Ocean Road. Bryan explained to us that there were never 12 apostles (rocks), but only 9. This was supposedly a PR strategy by Australia to establish a connection to the church. A few years ago, one apostle collapsed, so now there are only 8 left.
The blue of the sea and the golden colors of the sand and the apostles created a beautiful play of colors. We spent the sunset at a nearby beach.
After dinner, we started the 3-hour journey back and arrived back in Melbourne around 9 pm.
We covered 640 km on this day. But Bryan said, "True Australians don't know long distances." He was right, time flew by.
