Another day in Havana, breakfast at Amarilla, the plan for today is to visit the Christoph Columbus Cemetery, the Plaza de la RevoluciΓ³n and the Agencia de Viazul, where you can book buses or arrange affordable taxis to get to certain places.
Obviously, we're taking a taxi. They pick you up at the house and take you to your desired address, so off to Cienfuegos.
We'll be taking a regular bus back, it only costs 40 cents, the buses are packed with Cubans and everyone helps each other, great experience. π
We seem to have finally understood where to find good and affordable food, since our budget has been exceeded in the past few days. As expected, here we are having rice and beans with Pollo Frito, damn good and exactly to my taste.
We spend the evening at the Malecon, where we meet two Colombians and enjoy Cuban music Γ la Buena Vista Social Cnub.
So, the next morning, we head to Cienfuegos, once again in an old car, this time a Plymouth. The driver only speaks 'Bayern MΓΌnchen' in German and his English is also not great, so once again we had to communicate with hand gestures.
There is also a Swedish couple with us, who seem to have traveled the whole world before. We pass by some sugarcane and rice fields and stop at a rest area, where I see a hummingbird. We are advised to go to Mexico, Cancun and continue from there. This means we check for flights.
Our accommodation in Cienfuegos is pretty cool, we have a rooftop terrace and once again our own bathroom.
But first, we head to the city center to find Wifi, then it's time for the beach. Finally, we grab some food, wander around, and at least this time we have a normal car, as much charm as these old cars have, they are damn uncomfortable. The beach is okay, at least if you've just been to Thailand, so we jump into the water and relax for a while. The evening is spent in the center and tomorrow we will continue to Trinidad. The bus there is finally a bargain and only costs 6 CUC, which is about β¬6.
