Day 3 took us to Bergen - and it was wonderful!
But let's start from the beginning.
We slept excellently again and when we woke up, we were just before the harbor. The ship was released at 10 o'clock and the first passengers set off for shore leave. We went to have breakfast - again at the market restaurant. Apparently, it was our breakfast ambiance. There were only a few people left. I don't know where they all were? In any case, there was an incredible silence at breakfast.
At 11 o'clock, we left the ship strengthened. We hadn't booked an excursion and wanted to explore the city on our own. It was a wonderful idea. You practically fall into the city from the ship. We first went to the harbor and strolled through the market, with the Fløibanen as our destination. We bought tickets online to avoid a long wait at home. However, the queue with already purchased tickets was also too long for us. The Sapphire Princess was also in the harbor with us and apparently everyone had the funicular as their destination. So we decided to take a walk through the city. We passed the old town, went into some quaint shops, roamed parks, and passed by a huge sailing ship. You should like to walk when you visit Bergen, as there are some very steep streets up and then down again. But it's worth it. The small alleys with the narrow houses are sooo beautiful. We couldn't get enough of it. I photographed all the streets and houses.
At around 1:15 p.m., we arrived back at the Fløibanen. The queue was only half as long and we took our place. We waited about half an hour - that was okay. And the view was definitely worth it. There were also lots of photos taken on the mountain and everywhere AIDAperla was in the background. We fortified ourselves with a hotdog and drinks (if you drink beer, you shouldn't worry about the price. It was a bit expensive at around €8. But it's vacation, so cheers!). In general, you should have a credit card with you on this tour. You can pay for everything with it, even going to the toilet.
The view was already amazing and the weather was great too. There are also plenty of playgrounds for the children and free-roaming goats.
We walked back into the city. There are different paths that lead downhill. From an asphalt road to a climbing path, everything is available. But all around you can see wonderful nature, everything is incredibly green.
Once we reached the bottom, we strolled around the center a bit before reboarding the ship at 5 p.m. We were pretty tired - but it was a wonderful day and we would do it again anytime.
The Far Eastern Restaurant was really crowded for dinner. But that was because we were ready at exactly 7 p.m., when it opened. We were very hungry. Nevertheless, we quickly found two seats and had a nice conversation with a family. During the time we were talking, it started raining outside, but the sun showed up again right on time for departure.
The exit from Bergen is wonderful. Everywhere, the small offshore islands with the houses in the light of the slowly setting sun. Fantastic. We ended the evening at the Beach Club with a cocktail at the hit party.
The next day took us to Nordfjordeid. It was the first time a cruise ship had docked there. We were very excited.
