We don't leave Ballangen until 1pm and head to Skarberget to catch the ferry to Bognes. There's no other way to get here, a ferry is a must. Ferry time is about 25 minutes, time for lunch. It smells like hot dogs and pea soup, just like on the white fleet, and we get hungry. There's hot dogs, even wrapped in bacon, and...from a vending machine...mashed potatoes...it's like a mashed potato vending machine. I've never seen one before...but it was actually edible. Just finished an ice cream and we've already reached Bognes.
We continue on the E6, which will accompany us for quite some time. It goes up and down, up and down, and we wonder why we always have to go up just to go straight back down. Along with up and down, there's also several instances of light and dark, in and out of the long tunnel. It's always incredible to us that the E6 is the main traffic artery from the south to the north. What a road...which is also often closed in the winter, then nothing goes here! We see for the first time how a machine puts sticks every 50 meters on the edge of the road, just so you can still see the road in the winter. The summer is really over here...!
Of course, we are rewarded with beautiful scenery, although the weather could be better once again.
We drive to Fauske. Even though it's only 216 km along the E6, it still takes 3.5 hours + ferry waiting time.
We quickly do some shopping and head to a campground a little outside...not the most beautiful one...but completely fine. We find the only spot with gravel, very good, because the rest of the grassy area is a big puddle...! We're standing in the drizzle behind the bus, drinking lemonade and watching what's happening. The only ones who might drink your beer here are the buffaloes if you're not paying attention...
Later, we take a walk with the dog and enjoy the view of the illuminated city.
