From San Francisco to Salt Lake City

We approach San Francisco from the coastal road and are totally impressed when we see the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time. Yes, there is the city's landmark. In beautiful weather we admire the bridge from the marina and can't get enough of it. The prison island of Alcatraz is also close enough to touch. We have a viewing point where we can stay for the night, but we would have to drive a lap around the city to get there. Exciting on a 3.5 ton route. It is pretty full on the platform. Of course we walk onto the bridge/highway. The next morning we set off into the city. We park at the harbor and explore the city on foot. Always along the water we enjoy the great weather and the hustle and bustle on the piers. Nice people, delicious food and interesting impressions.

Our route takes us to Salt Lake City, through the Nevada desert. Barren landscape and often miles of straight roads. We are getting closer to the salt lakes. Bonneville is a highlight of the speedway scene. There is a lot going on here in late summer when cars drive at 1200 km/h.

We find great places to spend the night. Hot springs totally off the beaten track and always nice people.

Salt Lake City is an industrial and mining city.

New tools are needed and a major wash is on the agenda. Everything is possible here.

Further north we find a nice campground on the Antilopeninsel, where Jörg can replace MANNI's exhaust. Here we also meet Mary and Jannik, a young couple from Cloppenburg. We have two lovely evenings together before moving on.

So, let's pack up.

Bye

Anette, Jörg and Freddy
