High-class granite peaks - Torres del Paine National Park

បោះពុម្ពផ្សាយ: 09.12.2017

After visiting Argentina's supposedly most beautiful national park, we naturally had to visit Chile's supposedly most beautiful national park as well. Torres del Paine National Park impresses with its spectacular granite pillars, the Paine Towers, and the glacier in Lago Grey. To fully enjoy the park's beauty, one should embark on a 5-day hike in the shape of a W. Well, after our little hiking disaster in Fitz Roy, this was not an option for us. Once again, we decided on a day hike of 22 kilometers. Our guide promised us an easy hiking route to the Paine Towers. Yeah right, it turned out to be another tough slog. Although it must be said that the last kilometer of scrambling was not as exhausting. This time, the weather was on our side too, as the sun shone on the three granite pillars when we reached the top.

Unfortunately, we had no luck with the weather for the next few days. For the second time, we experienced the tremendous power of the Patagonian wind. It's truly indescribable - Maggi was shaking like a cow's tail, and we had to abandon our "mini-hike" (2 kilometers to a viewpoint) after 500 meters because we simply couldn't make any progress. Therefore, we also canceled our trip to the Grey Glacier and headed south.
