Since I assume this was the last real day in the city, I took a farewell tour of Quito. I took the L8er bus to Quicentro Sur, then took the triple bus up to Avenida des Naciones Unidas and from there, slowly walked down to Centro Storico.
That's what I did, and I carried it out. I drank coffee at Espanol, Carolina, Amazonas, enjoyed a sundae at McDonalds (where I fled on the first day when I got lost), Plaza Foch (where it turned out that I watched the Confederations Cup final live), Ejido, Basilica del Voto Nacional, Plaza de la Independencia, Plaza San Francisco, and finished.
I could now write about how I spoke with the waitress in Spanish, how beautiful the weather was, how much I enjoyed the time in the park with the cheerful crowds, how I was particularly kind to the beggars today...
but I don't want to. I'm running out of ideas anyway, I've written enough.
Yesterday, I watched the flights on Flightradar that Andrea and Vivi will take from Paris and the one I will take from Quito to Miami. It turns out that I will probably arrive five hours earlier. So the plan for the family reunion looks like this...
The day before yesterday, I researched the amusement parks in Orlando on the internet, the day before that I researched the Everglades and where to book a boat with a propeller at the back to glide over the water surface. A day before that, I looked at Airbnb options in Key West...
You can tell that in my mind, I'm already in Florida. And I can feel it too. And because it's maesas_blog_ecuador, I'm going to stop writing now.
I'm looking forward to telling you, at some point over a coffee or a beer, about Ecuador, Quito, the selva, about Rancho Los Pinos, and about the fantastic people here.
Hasta luego!
