West Coast / Westcoast

បោះពុម្ពផ្សាយ: 10.08.2024

The air has now somewhat disappeared. We were already familiar with the outstanding distance, even though we had less time back then (2017) than we do this time. Now there was a significant amount of rain (previously rather a foreign word in the first 3 weeks of vacation), and it noticeably got cooler.

We visited Shark Bay with a - ecologically questionable and touristically very inflated - feeding of 2 dolphins in Monkey Mia (it's probably a must-do for every tour along here), the Kalbarri National Park with some beautiful viewpoints of the Murchison River and a lovely coastline where, at our time, we could see the humpback whales passing by. A stop at the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park was of course also on the agenda, and from Perth we also visited the quokkas (a small kangaroo species) on Rottnest Island.

Finally, our journey ended on a last sunny day in Perth.

The outstanding part of our trip was not new to us, and so the excitement was no longer that high. We experienced significant times with clouds and rain (which we did not see in the past 3 weeks), and temperatures dropped quite a bit.

Driving down the West Coast to Perth, we visited Shark Bay (which was quite an overrated dolphin experience in Monkey Mia) and the Kalbarri National Park with nice views in the Murchison River Gorge and a rugged coastline, where we could watch the humpback whales passing by. We stopped for the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, and finally said hello to the quokkas (tiny kangaroos) on Rottnest Island.

A final sunny day in Perth brought our trip to an end ...
