Day 8 - Stranded in the nowhere

My day started with a good time at breakfast with Elvira as well as a couple from the Saarland. They stayed at our B&B for one night and were travelling through England by their own car. After breakfast I had to leave Penzance. I was sad about this. It was great here. I wished I could stay longer. But my next adventure was starting. I travelled to St. Austell, my last travel by train in England. Travel days are always exciting, because you don't know, what comes next.

In St. Austell I book the Eden's Yard Backpackers hostel near the Eden Project. I booked a room together with 7 other girls. I thought I booked this. I tooked the bus to the Eden Project at the rail station and arrived at a Youth Hostel. But this was the wrong one. 😅 I just saw it, when I was standing in front of that. I asked at the reception and my hostel was not far away. I had to walk through a forest path.

When I arrived I was a little bit shocked: I was standing in a garden and their were several doors, two open doors to the bath room and the 'living room' and two doors similar to doors to a horse stable, where the sleeping rooms were behind. Outside there were a table, chairs, etc. The flair remeberred me to Thailand with the difference that in Thailand the weather is much better. 😉 Today's weather was the worst I had on my trip: it often rains, was cold and there was a strong wind. 😕 Gpod timing. 😉 I was sure, that I will be freezing here all the time. I was pleased that I booked only one night in this hostel. One night in a shared room will be enough for me. I hoped that I will meet nice people in the evening.

My former plan was to go to 'Fowey Royal Regatta', which was 8 miles away from St. Austell in the later afternoon/evening. It was the last day of the regatta with closing event and fire work.

Because of the weather and the expectation that I wouldn't find someone who will join me, my motivation was low and I decided to attend the joined dinner in the evening instead of this.

Before that I visited the Eden Project, a project which originally started to protect the environment. There a two big biomes. In one of them you are in the rainforest and walk through the tropical flora. In the other one there is the mediterean flora. So I 'travelled' throught the nature of the world. And suddenly I was in South-Eat-Asia instead of South-West-England for example. 😉 The climate in the rainforest biome was so great. I think, I loved it. 😍 At the mediterean biome, it smelled great. It was beautiful to walk inside both biomes.

Before I left the hostel, Judy from the hostel warned me, that I should take care, that I find the way back. Sometimes I'm impressed by myself. 😂 Because I had the great idea to take pictures at every crossway I walked through. So I easily found the way back. 😊😊😊

As I wouldn't go back to the hostel, I walked to the small village, which was coming after the hostel. Maybe there will be a cafe, supermarket or something else. I found nothing. There were only a couple of houses and a church. It was death. I saw two cars and two people during the whole walk through the village and back to the hostel. I arrived at the end of the world.

So I stayed at my bed in the hostel till the others arrived. Later a guy came in. Oh, I hadn't booked a room with only girls. 😂 It was Felix coming from the 'forbidden' city Stuttgart. 😉 Although he is a Swabian, we got well with each other. 😁 He is an English teacher. 🙈 Oh my god, I was afraid to talking English next to him. 😂

The dinner was nice. We ate inside, not like I expected outside. Puuuh! 😁 There were six people: Judy and Neil, the owners of the hostel, Helen, the assistant, Ryan, who stayed there longer, because he had a summer job at the Eden Project, Felix and me.

The meal was great. 😊 It started with crackers and two self-made pestos, a green one and a red one. Then a kind of gratin with green and yellow crochets, onions and chopped tomatoes crusted with parmesan and self-made country potatoes. It was very delicious. 😋

After the dinner Felix and I went to the town centre of St. Austell to check the nightlife. The others told us, that there will be not much nightlife here. We walked through the centre and finally we went to a strange pub. There were only men, about 10, when we came in. Some of them looked heavy. Rock music were played and later there should be live music. A little bit later three top-styled girls came in. They dind't match to the men, who were there. It seemed that everybody knows everybody, instead of us.

There was really live music. A singer, who was standing next to the heavy men before, sang and played guitar. He was the one, who didn't look so heavy as the others. 😅 He looked a little bit like a singer, a type like Max Giesinger, but he wasn't such a talent like Max. 😉 He covered songs like 'Stand by me'. He got not so much applause. Sometimes no applause. I was a little bit sorry for him. 😯

We stayed there only for one drink and then we went back. I'm quite sure, that we were the only tourists, who ever were at this pub. 😂 After this we found one review about this pub: 'Full of heavy drinkers and all the problems that go with it Avoid' 🙈🙈🙈😂😂😂

It was an experience. 😉😂
